STRATEGIC PLAN SUMMARY 2010-2020 This version of the Business Plan is intended to replace the previous 5-year plan
OVERVIEW
NHAHA is a New York-based organization with national reach in Florida, and Boston. NHAHA was created in March 2003 with the goal of addressing health disparities in Haitian communities based on a health improvement framework in three phases: Assessment, Capacity building, Leadership, Interventions and Evaluation. The first five years of work included: assessing community needs, gaps in services and identifying community priorities.
These priorities fall into three domains of public health practice:

Health Improvement wide ranging action to improve health and wellbeing and reduce health inequalities

Health Protection emergency response, action for clean air, water and food, infectious disease control, and protection against environmental health hazards

Health and Social Care Quality action in service planning, access to care, clinical effectiveness, and care coordination
These domains are supported with broad community goals and objectives that drive NHAHA's scope of work. The scope of work comprises of the following strategically selected community-level interventions: public policy and advocacy, annual conference and regional meetings, community health planning and development, research tools materials, technical assistance, and public health education. Each intervention is specified with activities and formulated outcomes.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS NHAHA's past five years activities have included five annual national conferences (two in New York one in Boston and two in Florida); Regional planning forums; and World AIDS Day Awareness campaign. In addition, NHAHA has been engaged in policy efforts around language access, Census 2010, and has been providing health information through monthly health updates. In the area of Research, NHAHA is collaborating on the publication of a paper on HIV/AIDS in Haitians in the US. The next phase of NHAHA's work will focus on capacity building, leadership and program development.

9. Provide networking opportunities for members
10. Provide a conduit for the flow of information from local to national levels and vice versa
