Policy & Advocacy

GET INVOLVED

The National Haitian Health Alliance (NHAHA) allows you to get involved in the public health improvement of Haitians. Whether you join the committees and workgroups or participate in your region caucus, you can contribute to the welfare of well-being of your community.

Regional Caucus: Goal - NHAHA is based in New York with regional caucuses in major cities such as Miami and Boston. A national Board with representation from NHAHA's designated regions will form the central governing body of the organization. NHAHA will support the development of caucuses to:
       1- Host an annual meeting
2- Create a forum for region members to discuss and address region specific issues
3- Advise the national board on regional issues
4- Promote and contribute to NHAHA's agenda

Leadership - NHAHA relies upon dedicated Region members, leaders and advisers to create the best possible experience for all NHAHA members. The Region Leader is automatically a member of the national board. This is the top leader position at the local region level. A Region Network chair should be prepared to lead, motivate, organize and build NHAHA enthusiasm. This individual should focus on NHAHA's Statement of Purpose, Values and Key Initiatives, while delegating and implementing region plans and activities. The chair will schedule and conduct meetings at regular intervals and will be the spokesperson for NHAHA in their local area. The Region Network chair is also responsible for conducting regular membership meetings and assist workgroups with program activities.

Planning for Events and Meetings - Events and meetings are a great way to unify a region, provide learning opportunities and attract potential members. NHAHA offers an annual national/international conference each year. The region can bid to host a Regional Activity.

Region Achievements - When a region excels, it deserve recognition. Write a press release about your achievement and post it NHAHA website or pitch the story to communications chair.

Joining your Region caucus - A Region caucus gives you a platform for: a) sharing knowledge and expertise; b) accessing network of key stakeholders, c) working on collaborative projects and d) making new allies and partners.

Membership: Caucus membership is open to all interested parties in the region. All board members, members-at-large and advisory are automatically members of their caucus and can participate in all regions activities.
